CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A winter storm system is bringing bitterly cold temperatures and a mix of wintry precipitation to the Lowcountry this week.
Temperatures are forecast to reach near-record lows on Wednesday night as an arctic air mass and area of low pressure move through the region and along the coast.
Accumulating snow and sleet are expected with 3 to 6 inches of snow possible in most areas, though some inland areas could see higher amounts.
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a winter storm warning for Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, and Dorchester counties until noon Wednesday.
