SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A man received 15 years in federal prison for a drug trafficking and firearm charge.
45-year-old Sergio Magallan-Tinoco (also known as John Migo), of Mexico, was sentenced for possession with intent to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of the drug trafficking crime.
Evidence presented to the court showed that in the Fall of 2023, Upstate law enforcement agencies conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl and cocaine from Magallan-Tinoco.
Authorities later obtained a search warrant for Magallan-Tinoco’s residence where they found additional fentanyl & cocaine, along with a money counter, scales and a loaded handgun.
Magallan-Tinoco was found to be responsible for trafficking 20 kilograms of cocaine.
Officials learned that Magallan-Tinoco has a prior conviction for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was sentenced to 180 months imprisonment which will be followed by a five-year term of supervised release.
A $400,000 forfeiture judgment was also issued against Magallan-Tinoco.
