Lithuania is planning to provide Ukraine with another military package as Kiev seeks to fend off the Russian invasion, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said on Saturday.
Šimonytė made the announcement in Kiev during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Andrzej Duda, UNIAN news agency reported.
“Lithuania’s position is well-known and straightforward: Ukraine must win, Russia must lose,” she said.
In the autumn, Kiev is set to receive around 5,000 drones from Lithuania. Prior to that, in addition to ammunition and weapons, air defence systems, missiles and equipment to counter drones are to be delivered by early September.
Moreover, Šimonytė said Lithuania is providing €35 million ($39 million) to buy radar equipment and mine detection equipment. The value of the new military package was not disclosed.
Lithuania is among the most committed supporters of Ukraine. By May alone, Lithuania had provided military assistance worth around €640 million.
