Peace in the Middle East is on the mind of a local Jewish leader before Hanukkah begins Wednesday night.
The Jewish Festival of Lights commemorates the re-dedication of the second temple after the recovery of Jerusalem in the Second Century.
Each night for eight nights, Jews light an additional candle on a Menorah. A member of the Quad Cities Jewish Federation considers it is a time of hope.
“It’s been a very tough 444 days since Oct. 7, 2023, so we’re just looking for more light, less darkness: A return of the hostages, peace in the Middle East, and a decrease in anti-Semitism throughout the world.”
