A 26-year-old man has been identified as a suspect in the killing of a man at a refugee centre in the northern German city of Rostock, police said on Tuesday.
Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator are from Ukraine.
The suspect was briefly detained, but then later released.
The public prosecutor’s office said investigators have not yet been able to provide sufficient evidence to justify remanding him in custody, but that the 26-year-old remains a suspect.
A 46-year-old Ukrainian man died in the Elbotel accommodation on Monday. Police and first responders who arrived at the scene found evidence of a homicide.
Details about the nature of the injuries and a possible motive have not been shared by law enforcement.
