The latest product for the ever-expanding Toyota and Suzuki alliance will premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in January.
Looking similar to the Suzuki eVX concept and the new series production e Vitara, the 4,285 mm long Urban Cruiser is a front- or all-wheel drive SUV. It will be exported from Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat to Toyota Motor Europe’s markets.
TME notes a choice of 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs, the new model providing an electric alternative to the existing Yaris Cross Hybrid in the B/C segments.
One or two motors and up to 300 Nm
The e-Vitara and Urban Cruiser share not only a 2,700 mm wheelbase and architecture – Suzuki’s new Heartect-e, but a production line too.
In FWD form, there is a 106 kW motor for cars with the 49 kWh battery and a 128 kW motor when the 61 kWh battery is specified. Torque is 189 Nm for both. Outputs for the AWD Urban Cruiser are 135 kW and 300 Nm, the second motor being positioned on the rear axle.
Sales are due to commence in both left- and right-hand drive European markets during the third quarter of next year.
“Brussels motor show – Toyota Urban Cruiser world debut” was originally created and published by Just Auto, a GlobalData owned brand.
