Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi militia has hailed an attack by the Houthi-allied Lebanese Hezbollah movement against Israel and said their own attack is “inevitably coming.”
Hezbollah said earlier on Sunday it had completed the first part of its retaliatory attack for the killing of a high-ranking military commander. The Israeli army attacked targets in southern Lebanon and spoke of an “act of self-defence.”
The Houthi political office congratulated Hezbollah and its chief Hassan Nasrallah on what it called a “large and courageous attack” and a “strong and effective response” against Israel, the Yemeni militia’s mouthpiece television al-Masirah reported.
“We reiterate that the Yemeni response is inevitably coming,” the group said, according to the broadcaster. The Houthis have claimed several attacks against Israel since the eruption of the Gaza war in October last year.
The militants have also been attacking ships in the Red Sea and said they want to force an end to the Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, which followed the unprecedented massacre by the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas in Israel during the October raid.
